Mark, Thank you for responding. Rebecca Ann Causey was the daughter of William Causey, Jr., and Susanna Whittington, and the granddaughter of William Sr., and no one really knows his first wife's name. She married James Buchanan Steele, son of Archibald Buchanan Steele and Laviscia Lusk, and a brother to my g.grandmother, Virginia Steele Rountree Brady. Susannah Whittington's father, Cornelius, was also one of my direct descendants, so this really gets complicated figuring out kinship. Anyway, Rebecca and James married 16 October 1846 in Amite Co. They had 6 children: SUSAN LAVISCIA, THOMAS O., AMOS BUCHANAN, MATILDIE, WILLIAM L., AND HARMON. Harmon married my grandfather's half-sister, Orra Ann Brady.
<g> I told you it was complicated!! Rebecca died in a house fire shortly before James went off to fight in the Civil War. My g.grandfather and g.grandmother kept Amos, Harmon, and I think Thomas while James was off to war. James was captured, and died in a POW camp at Camp Chase, Ohio. I have a photograph of his grave that a cousin in Mississippi sent me. If you want more information, such as the genealogy report, or a Descendants of William Causey, Sr., just let me know, and send me your email address. Mine is . I live in Kingwood, Texas. I can also put you in touch with several very knowledgeable persons who research this line. Right now, I am aware that I don't have Rebecca's birth/death date--can't imagine how that happened.
Mildred
