Our family has always been told that our grgrandparents were Indian. I have traced Our grgrandmothers' linage(Amanda Burge Smith) back to 1756 and I don't see any Indian there.
Our grgrandfather was Irvin Jack Smith b.1857-1859.
He appears on the 1880 Benton Co. Ms. Census living with Henry W. Duncan at the age of 21. He and Amanda marry in 1880 in Benton Co. Ms.
I have not been able to trace Jack Smith before 1880. I have not found any of his Siblings or parents.
I have decided if there is Indian in our family, it had to come in
on Jack Smiths' side.
They had a son David/Dave Smith. I have not been able to trace him after he married or left home. I wondered if he went to live with his fathers family.
any help would be appreciated.
Margaret
