Hi Rich and others,
I know I have numerous ancestors/relatives buried at Cedar Hill. I've never
been to Vicksburg, unfortunately, but would like to know more about the
cemetery and since I can't get to the library there, I have a few questions
which hopefully someone can answer?

1. Are the Fisher records at the library also available in a book which we
could buy?

2. Is there anything online about Cedar Hill?

3. My great-grandfather is buried there. When he died, my great-grandmother
purchased an extra grave for herself (sometime in the 1930s.) We have no
record of the purchase on paper (ie. grave title or whatever it is called.)
Eventually, my great-grandmother moved here to Virginia Beach, and as far as
I know, the grave is still "un-taken." Would anyone know if my (living) mom
would legally own this grave? How could I go about finding out....from the
cemetery office?

4. Does anyone know about how many people are buried at Cedar Hill? 200
acres is a lot; are they still burying people there? Are there different
"sections" of the cemetery....perhaps filled up by time-frame (ie., 1700s,
1800s, etc.) or are they all mixed up?

5. The other cemetery....the one in Vicksburg National Battlefied
Park.....is that cemetery just for war veterans and does it include their
families?

I would really like to know more about the cemetery, if there are any
"historians" who would like to maybe send some posts to the list giving us
its history, statistics, etc.

Thanks,
Peggy Dyas
