I'm really glad that harmony has been restored. I was afraid that my query might inadvertently lead to hard feelings. At least it's possible for me to plead complete Washington Co. ignorance. You could tell me anything, and I'd believe it!

My gg-gfather, Thomas Ireland, was a carpenter born in KY in 1828. He moved with his wife and son (Wallace) to Greenville, MS, in 1857-58. They had three more children there, in 1858 (Mary A.), 1860 (Nellie), and 1862 (my g-gfather Theodore W.). Thomas' wife must have died during the war, since he shows up remarried in Paoli, IN (near Louisville) in 1870.

If anyone has any info on this family, I'd really appreciate it. Since they were only in Miss. for a short while, though, it's a shot in the dark, I know.

In any event, thanks to everyone for the info that you've been able to give me. I could've spun my wheels for quite a while looking for that 1860 census. I wonder what happened to it?
