We have been looking into this same thing and believe them to be the same.
cousin went and looked at death certificate for David Humphrey and it states
Christine Coon but no mention of Annie. this could have been nickname or
middle name? Can you get anything else from Corrine?

Oh my gosh! Now it clicks! I have Robert P. Humphreys married to an
Annie Coon. Corrine Brown gave me this data. She's a cousin of mine.
Maybe Christine is Annie! I have Robert and Annie marrying on June 1st,
1883, but I don't have a place. Does anyone know if Annie and Christine
are the same woman?

On the death certificate for David C. Humphreys, it is written only as
follows:
Father: Robert Humphreys
Mother: Christine Coans
no middle initials for Robert and different spelling for Christine.

any place else I can look for information to make sure I have the
correct couple with: Robert P and Annie Coon?

Yes it is. I had seen the marriage to Annie Coon and figured myself that
it was her instead of Coan.

In the Wilkinson County marriage records published by the Woodville
Civic Club, I find a Robert P. Humphrey md. Annie Coon 1 June 1883.
Could Christine's last name be Coon instead of Coan? Often the bride is
married using a middle or nickname.

There is also a Robert P. Humphreys who took out a license to md.
Cornelia Hastings 29 May 1883.

Seems Robert intended to marry Cornelia but either he changed his mind,
or she did. He married Annie Coon 3 days later. It's it interesting
what we turn up when we start comparing records?
