Maurice J. Gunther, Former Agawam Citizen, Succumbs at Kalispell
--Morris gunther, a former Agawam resident, passed away Feb. 19th, [1934] at Kalispell [MT]. He had just passed his 70th birthday.
--Maurice Joseph Albertes Gunther was born in Amsterdam, Holland, on Feb. 15, 1864. At an early age he was left an orphan, when 18 years of age he joined the army, left the army five years later to come to America. He lived for some time in New York City where he was married. About a year later his wife passed away with scarlet fever and was soon followed by their infant son. Soon after this he went to Armon, South Dakota. In 1901 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Johanna Vonhler Heyden, a widow with two small children. To this union, one daughter, Annie, was born. The family lived in South Dakota until 1906 when they moved and located on a farm near Agawam {MT]. In 1927 they went to Kalispell where they have since resided.
--Mr. Gunther is survived by his wife and daughter, two step-daughters and 19 grandchildren, all of whom are living.
--Funeral services were held in the Sherman & Son chapel at Kalispell with E.W. Hoyt officiating. As a request of the family there were no flowers or singing. Interment was in Demersville cemetery. [Transcribed as a public service with the express permission of the Choteau Acantha March 8, 1934.]
