John MURPHY born 1823 in Co. Kilkenny, Ire. Married Margaret JONES 1852 in Fleming Co. KY. Died 1909 in Butler Co, NE and is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bloomington IL. Margaret was b 1835 in KY and died in 1881 in IL.

Children of John and Margaret are:
- Mary E. b. 1853; d. 1856.
- William Ambrose, b. 1855, KY; m. Mary HOLLANDSWORTH, 1879, McLean Co IL; d. 1919, Greeley, NE.
- John J., c.1857, KY
- Mary E. (my gr-grandmother), b. 1859, KY; m Edward Kelly, 1877 McLean Co IL; d. 1896, Butler Co NE.
- Thomas, b. 1862, IL
- Edward B., b. 1869, Woodford IL; m Anastasia FARRELL, 1896, Butler Co NE; d. 1930, O'Connor, Greeley Co NE.
- Susan, b. 1872
- George, b.1875; d. 1875, IL
- Catherine B., b. 1877, IL

For John Murphy I have obit, will and misc papers/receipts from Butler Co, NE; and photos of a headstone at St Mary's Cem in Bloomington, IL courtesy of the Rockwell's of IL.

Would like to learn more about when John MURPHY came to the US and where he travelled when he first arrived. According to his obit he "traveled and worked in the Southern States for some time, then settled near Bloomington, IL". Did he come to the states alone?
