Comments: John was shot by a neighbor kid while playing together in the
cornfield. Older brother, Ves (Daniel Sylvester), was with him. He
carried him home. When the doctor was probing for the bullet he couldn't
remove it. Grandma was rocking him when he asked her to sing his favorite
song (The Silvery Colorado Wends Its Way). He died in her arms. He was
sweet tempered and spoke with an Irish brogue (from listening to his
Grandfather, James).
