Hi Everyone: I've been quiet on this list lately, but seem to be making up for it in the past day or two. I descend from Alexander Murphey of York County PA who died in 1757. Alexander's four sons, John, James, Archibald and Alexander, migrated to Caswell County NC in the mid-1760's.

John died before the Revolution, apparently unmarried and without issue.

James died in the Battle of Eutaw Springs in the Rev. War, and his children were established by records in Rowan County NC.

Archibald was the County Clerk for Caswell County NC [which is why his name appears as witness to so many documents] and raised his family in Caswell.

Alexander stayed in Caswell until around 1790 before he migrated to the "Clinch settlement" and finally dying in KY.

For those sorting through the various Alexanders and Archibalds, I'd like to form an e-mail group to share our research and ideas . . . without boring the rest of the Murphy list with endless details. Most of us have corresponded at one time or another, but this will give us a chance to bring everyone up to date on current research and we may then all have the same data to work from.

If you wish to participate in this sharing of information on Alex and Arch, just drop me a note at: .
