I am at such a roadblock that I feel compelled to respond to everyone
who even mentions a "Charles Murphy" I have a Charles in my family
line. You mentioned a Charles also.. My grandfather, Charles, was born
in Ohio( or maybe not Ohio) sometime between 1862 and 1867. The family
next shows up in Indiana. Charles married Hester Epperson in 1890 in
Crawford, IL. Divorced within a few years, after one child, Frank.
Both Charles and Hester returned to Linton in Greene Co IN as verified
by the 1900 census. Charles was then living with his parents Patrick
and Julia Darnes Murphy and Hester was living with her sister, MaryBelle
Epperson Ferrell.
I have never been able to locate anything about Charles after 1900. If
he is not yours then maybe someone out there can claim him and make me a
happy genealogist.
