Someone recently sent me several pages [relating to Murphys] from a book
published by the American Irish Historical Society found at the Tennessee
Archives. The book is a compilation of chapters written by different
authors dealing with the Irish in North Carolina [1700's].

If anyone would like the material, and can accept an attachment of a Word

I will also take this opportunity to jump up on my soapbox once again. Some
of these families are quite interesting and with a little work can probably
be linked to someone's missing ancestors. I'd love to see people "adopt" a
Murphy line [even though it is not their own] and research it for the
"greater good."

Mark Murphy has done a great job of posting records for everyone's benefit.
It takes a lot of work and a lot of time. I almost filed away these recent
pages, but made the time to retype the whole thing [and I work full time,
take care of a large home, live in an area that is not close to any research
facilities, and have lots of other interests]. Imagine how much data we
could compile as a team.

Enough of that -- the article that I'm offering is full of interesting bits
and pieces of Murphy history in North Carolina and mentions numerous Murphys
that I know others are researching.
