Just in case anyone new has joined, or there is a new interest, here are some
late 17th century Richard Murphy persons...some may be the same...
purpose to research the unsupported assumption that a Richard Murphy was the
father of Simon (I) Murphy of Surry Co. VA
If anyone has an interest in this line, please let me know. Even if you don't
have information, you may live in an area of the country or world where you can
do some research beneficial to both of us.
1. Land Grant to Rober. Tucker, Virginia, 22 Apr 1669 for import of Rich
Murffee....100 acres between James & Elizabeth Rivers. County not listed.
(immediately followed on same page by 400 acres to Jhon. Gay, County of
Nanzemond, adjacent James Collins, et al.)...1722 Robert Tucker I of Norfolk
Co. died [A good possibility to fit a Richard, father of Simon...we were
connected to the Collins family for over two centuries- MM]

2. 03 Aug 1683 . . . apprenticed in Middlesex to go for four years to Maryland,
by the (ship) Content, Mr. William Johnson: . . . Richard MURPHY of London,

November 20, 1704, he was referred to as Master of the Arcana Galley of
Marblehead, then about to sail on a voyage to Leghorn.
