Welcome Mark Murphy, Good Luck with your new duties ..

Thought I would put up a blurb on my Murphy's and hope others will do the
same ..

My Murphy's come from Keelogues in Co Mayo Ireland .. There were 11 children
in my gr grandfather's (Michael Murphy and Catherine Hughes) family and they
moved across Ireland and across the sea to America at different times.

My Dad Patrick Joseph Murphy was born March 17 1898 in Ballyhean, Co Mayo
to Patrick Murphy (born in Keelogues) and Mary Flanagan (born in the
Ballyhean area) ..
...Dad emigrated to NY in 1929, a few years after serving in the Civil War
and being captured in the OX Mountains. He served 1 1/2 years in Mt Joy and
Kilmainin jails ..

.. He lived to 94 years always believing that the whole of Ireland would be
FREE ..

Love to hear from other Murphy descendants, from this same area ..

Mary Pat Murphy-Carey

Hi all,

I've taken over the reins of list administration from Sue. I expect it will
all go smoothly. I think my main job will be to keep out spam. If anyone
has any questions or problems, please email me directly.

Let's continue to share information for the common goal!

Murphys are "Fortes et Hospitatis" (strong and hospitable)

Erin go braugh! and happy hunting...
