Without further information, I can't help you with Mary because, according
to census records, she didn't immigrate until 1899 or 1900.

I found who I believe to be your Joseph Murray in the household of his
parents, James and Margaret Murray, in 1880 Fayette County, Kentucky,
Lexington, 1st Ward.

320 - James Murry, husband, age 37; self and parents born Ireland; Carpenter
Margaret, wife; age 35; self and parents born Ireland; Keeping
house
E. J., son; age 13; born England
William, son; age 8; born Kentucky
Margaret, dau; age 6; born Kentucky
Joseph, son; age 4; born Kentucky
James, son; age 1; born Pennsylvania

I assume that you already have Joseph's family in later census years. I
found him in 1910 New York City, Borough of Manhattan, and in 1920 Hamilton
County, Ohio, Cincinnati. The 1920 census indicates that children Joseph,
Jr. and Marie were both born in New York, which would indicate that Joseph
and Mary married there. If you have a copy of Mary's death certificate
giving her parents names, I will be happy to check 1900 New York for you.
Otherwise, finding the correct Halley family in New York would be like
looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack.

I have also not found James and Margaret in either the 1870 or the 1900
census.
