Dear Dave
First, why do all your messages have A with a circumflex over it scattered
through them? It is very confusing because I use a program that has a voice
to read the screen!
Regarding the parents of the James Musker who married Mary Eatom, Lee and I
spent a long time trying to find where he fits in the Musker tree. Perhaps
you will have more success. It is possible that amongst you elderly
relatives there is one who remembers what her grandmother told her. I say
her, as in my experience it is the old ladies who remember family stories
from way back. I suggest you write to everyone you can asking for any
scraps of family lore!
Traditional the English naming pattern in the past was similar to the
Scottish one where the eldest son is named after his father's father, and
the second son after the mother's father, then the third son is named after
the father. For the daughters it was the opposite. However the English
mothers often missed out perhaps they were not as strong minded as their
Scottish neighbours.
Looking at James & Mary's sons, Thomas, James and George, Mary Eaton's
father was a George so that seems to indicate that James father was Thomas!,
However son Thomas appears to gave gone against tradition and named his
eldest son John, (perhaps after his wife's father whose name we do not
know. His second son Thomas after himself and his third after his maternal
grandfather. Does this mean he had quarrelled with his father?
I hope you are able to get back a little further and will share your
discoveries with us. In the meantime I am sending you a separate message
with the Eaton family tree,. Unfortunately I have lost touch with the family
who sent it to me.
Regards, Nora

Dear Gordon and Nora.
I am sorry if I am taking you off at a tangent, but I am new to this
research.
>From what I have gathered so far,my Great Grandfather was George Musker
(milk salesman) from the Walton area. My Grandfather was, I know, Thomas
Musker.
I remember my father (George John James Musker) telling me that his father
Thomas lived in Lilly Grove, Walton - which is very close to St. Mary's
Lane. I wonder if there is a close relationship between him,or his fatherÂ
and Melling Musker ?
Best wishes
David.
