Continuing the conversation.....
Adding a slightly different twist on what Shirley mentioned, I have never had a speaker complain but they might, that they get home late for going to work the next day when they come from as far away as Sacramento, etc, as Leslie Nye did. ...Trying a different time on a trial basis would show that the board is willing to listen, and then the issue can be re-evaluated after the designated time. Some will be happy and some not so happy. Maybe another survey would give us a better idea of who our members are....how many work, how many would like a weekday afternoon, how many a Sat. afternoon (Sonoma County Gen. Soc. meets the 4th Sat. at 1 p.m.) There are many possibilities which are not really being explored or coming out in these emails. It doesn't much matter to me, but it has been a mighty interesting exchange.

I also think this would be a good compromise (except that it may be harder on commuting speakers, as Shirley pointed out). I will still miss most of the first half-hour, but at least I won't miss the speaker!
