Subject: [Mariners-L] Visit to Somme - May 99

I shall be paying a brief visit to the Somme area around
Arras/Bapaume/Bucquoy in mid-May of this year. I will be happy to take
photographs of graves, provided you can give me the full reference (see
below). Naturally, as time is limited, I will not be able to meet
everyone's requests, but I will do my best. I must point out that I cannot
provide this service for free, but the charges will be only to cover my
costs; payment must be in Sterling in advance please. The cost will be £5
(Five Pounds) for up to three standard size photographs plus an inscription
on behalf of the relative/person requesting the picture if required, and UK
postage. A panoramic photograph will be provided if requested, but these
will be £3 each. Your inclusion will depend on the location of the cemetery
and our itinerary; as we are travelling with friends we must fall in with
their plans - occasionally! However, if you would like a photograph of a
grave or memorial, please provide the following information:

Full name of deceased or commemorated, including rank, regiment/service and
service number
Name of cemetery and its precise location
Grave or memorial reference (e.g. Plot 2, Row F, Grave 16, or equivalent for
memorial)

All of this information is available on the Commonwealth War Graves
Commission's Register of Honour which is on-line at www.cwgc.org/

I will have to close the books by 8th May at the latest, so get your order
in early! I will notify everyone whether I will be able to help them, or
not. If for any reason, I am unable to take a promised photograph, a full
refund will, of course, be forthcoming (and an excuse!).
