Hi everyone

Thank you to those people who responded with info re both the Aust Steam Nav Coy & the ship, "County of Inverness".

To summarise what we were told, the ship was built 1877 for R J Craig, Glasgow for the Indian service. From 1899 - 1911, she was owned by Shaw Savill & Co. She then spent time as a coal hulk before being converted to a motor ship & re-named in France in 1924.

On a small painting that I have of the ship, you can make out what appears to be a Company flag flying from the top of the second mast. The flag has a red strip along the top, with an equal sized blue strip at the bottom, with a red x-shaped cross on a large white field in the centre.

>From this flag, can anyone suggest which company the ship may have been sailing for ?

Thanks very much
