And the date of 30 March 1941 was the day the EASTLEA, in convoy HX115,
was torpedoed and sunk by U48 in a position 60N 18, 10W. There were no
survivors from the 34 on board.
The EASTLEA was owned by the Cliffside Shipping Co. Ltd., owned by John
Morrison & Son, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She was built in 1924 and was
4267 gross tons.
