on 6 Feb 2001 John Walker asked about the WHITE ROSE which sank in the
English Channel in 1911. Dave Edge provided the details requested.

I though that you might be interested in the contemporary reports from
Lloyd's List of 1911:

[14 Dec] sailed La Pallice for Liverpool on 10 Dec [I see that DE's source
gives 11 Dec]

[22 Dec] London Dec 22: It is feared that the steamer WHITE ROSE from France
for home has foundered with all hands in the Bay of Biscay. The vessel was
seen last Friday [15 Dec] flying signals of distress and has not been
reported since - Daily Telegraph

[23 Dec] Liverpool Dec 22: Owners have received advice from Receiver of
Wreck, Plymouth this morning. A boat marked "White Rose - Liverpool" picked
up afloat 400 yards North of Redding Point. Now in charge of Coastguard
Cawsand
[23 Dec] Plymouth Dec 23: A boat marked "White Rose - Liverpool" has been
picked up in a battered condition in the Sound

[27 Dec] London Dec 26: The cross-channel steamer DEVONIA on arrival at
Plymouth reported that on Saturday [23 Dec] she passed between Start Point
and Eddystone a lifeboat painted white, thought to have been another of the
boats of the Liverpool steamer WHITE ROSE.

I understand that the location of her wreck is now known (and is a diving
site), near the Udder Rock, about a mile off Polperro
