Extracts taken from the book 'The local records of Stockton and the
neighbourhood by T. Richmond.

The St. Martin PLANTER from Miramichi, with timber, and the Hawk, from
Sunderland were totally wrecked on the North Gar. The crews were saved.

2/2/1822
The 'Tees' of Stockton, and 3 other vessels driven on shore, near
Hartlepool, 2 of which (coal laden) sunk.

11/5/1822
The 'Ruby' Cpt NEAL from Newcastle to Yarmouth, with coals, was wrecked
on the rocks below Hartlepool. The crew all perished except the master,
who saved himself in a crevice of the cliff that stands from the main
cliff. Many other vessels suffered in the same storm.

15/11/1817
The sloop 'Rifleman' of Portsmouth, coal laden, struck on Redcar rocks,
and became a total wreck. The crew was saved.
