Hello Mariners
My family sources tell me that my great grandfather of Irish birth was a
captain with a regular route between Liverpool, Halifax and Baltimore around
the 1860s-1880s. I have found a captain Doodey on the S.S. Halifax arriving
one time in Boston in the later 1800s (exact year illegible) on the Passenger
Arrival List for Boston.
In spite of a difference in spelling, (my name lacks the "e") I suspect there
may be a connection. Would you know anything about the Halifax, its routes,
captains and crew, or how to access Lloyds Captains Register to find a
mariner Patrick Doody, Liverpool>Baltimore, 1860-1880? I will appreciate any
leads or advice.
Many thanks,
Louis Doody
