Hi all,
I read Paul's analysis with interest; ............ and then of
course, there are yachtsmen / women. Today, they are the true 'sailors' ?

In Sydney when the British Pacific Fleet arrived, en route to Hong
Kong, George Street and Wynyard Station would be crawling with mateloes,
(often, literally), and when the local sheilas would say to us (MN types),
"Are you Pommy sailors?" we would reply with distain, "Nah!, them blokes in
their tiddly suits are sailors, WE are
Seamen; intimating that we were superior ' Men of the Sea' !
