Hello Pat,

Further to Margaret's and Brian's reply, I can only add a few
snippets.

The Gaspar Straits separates the two main islands of Sumatra
and Java.

Carimata would be the Karimata Straits which separate Sumatra
from Borneo.

Pisang is, according to my wife, in Ambon Province (Indonesia).

Battoo is now Batu, which is an island off the west coast
of Sumatra. My missus has heard of Aur and Barong but she
just can't place them, although she did say that the names
have been changed. HTH

Best regards,
Iain Rogers, Hong Kong, China

waters round present day Indonesia. I have found some place names unchanged,
like Java, and the Gulf of Siam is an easy one but can anyone tell me where
the following places are? I am using his spelling of course, but even so
there is little similarity to new names.

Pula Capas de Terre, Pula Capras, Pale Timoan, Carimata, Gaspar Straits,
Aur, Pisang, Barong islands
