MORMACLAND.
Steel single screw steel motorvessel.
Delivered January 1940 by Sun S.B. & Drydock Co., Chester. PA., U.S.A.
11672 GRT.
468.4ft L, 69.7ft B., 29.1ft D.
Part electric welded and fitted with refrigeration machinery.
4 - 7cyl ,2S.SCA oil engines with electric magnetic slip couplings and
single reduction gearing driving one shaft.
Supplied and fitted by Busch - Sulzer ,Bro's, Diesel Engine Co., St Louis,
Mo. 16 knots
Owners : Moore McCormack Lines.
1941. H.M.S. ARCHER Transferred under Lease - Lend to the British Gov't.,
having been converted , in U.S.A.,to an
aircraft carrier .
Flew Swordfish & Marlett aircraft and served on Atlantic convoy
duty , in the Mediterranean and south Atlantic.
Carried 16 aircraft and a complement of appr. 550 including air
crew.
1943. October .Due to serious problems with her machinery ,decommisioned ,
then used as a R.N. stores ship.
1945. EMPIRE LAGAN. M.OW.T. Managed by Blue Funnel Line.
1946. ARCHER. 9th January. Returned to U.S.A. ownership - Laid up.
ANNA SALEN . Purchased by Sven Salen, Stockholm and converted to a
passenger emmigrant ship.
Registered under the ownership of Rederi A/S Pulp , port of
registry Stockholm.
Employed carrying mostly Dutch immigrants for Dutch carriers on
a stand - by basis.
1955. TASMANIA. Cia Nav. Tasmania S.A. (Hellenic Mediterranean Lines)
Greece.
Employed as an emmigrant ship.
1961. UNION RELIANCE. China Union Lines Taipeh
Involved in a collision with Norwegian tanker BEREAN at Houston ,
Texas. Declared a "constructve loss",
and sold for demolition.
1962 3rd March. Having been towed to New Orleans, breaking up commenced.

Hi Listers..
I would like to know all there is about the M/V Anna Salén..when &
where built..to where she could possibly be today?..Only facts I know
is, she was a cargo ship converted into an immigrant ship sometime after
WW2 and seemed to be sailing from Bremen Germany to Quebec city with
immigrant people in 1953..Thanks for any help..Regards from Rosemere,
