Jenny,
For your information, and that of the List, I'll be forwarding
separately four reports from The Times concerning this incident. Bob
Sanders, whose web pages I also mentioned yesterday in connection with
an enquiry re William Parry, is interested in the Whitby area, and has
provided these reports.
They do not actually seem to add much to what you already know. However,
it does appear the EDITH was inward bound to the Tees, not outward
bound. Further, although two of the crew swam to shore, and one other
drowned, all the remaining crew plus people they had already rescued
managed to re-board the capsized lifeboat WINIFRED MARY HOBBS and were
then towed to the Tees.

So, once again,'The WINIFRIDE MARY HOPPS' now with the regular crew, went out again at 6.0 in the pitch dark, which ended in tragedy as it was overturned, with one member losing his life on the rocks, the others managing to scramble ashore.
