I have another question for the group!

How can I obtain service records without going to Kew or one of the
other records offices.?

Is there an online service for these requests?

I have now found my grandfather Henry May, listed as a second class
boy (16) on the training ship 'Boscawen' in Portland, in the 1891
census.

The problem is I do not know his service number, or what ships he
served on, but I would like this information for my records....

I have all his personal details relating to birth and marriage etc,
and that he was in the Royal Navy Prison in Lewes in 1901.
and when he died, ha! the year I was born:-))

But thats about it.

Thanks

Lindy
