Hi All,

I'm new to the list and hoping that someone can point me in the right
direction. I have a g-g-grandfather, William MACKEY/MACKIE who from at
least 1851 - 1871 is listed as a Ship's Steward. At his death in 1873
he is a Shore Steward. I have found explanations of these positions and
both were well paying occupations.

Can someone give me an idea of where I would search to see for what
company he worked? I know he was born in Duncannanon, Ireland (c1810)
but have not found his marriage bef 1842 either in Ireland or England.

Any help appreciated,

Fran
