In a report in 'The Graphic', of February 5th, 1887, it states that, in
December, 1886, ...... "several vessels of the Niger Company's fleet ('Hakoba',
'Niger', 'Kano', 'Boussa' and 'Hamarona')" assisted HMS Racer and HMS Royalist
in a punitive attack on several villages on the Wari branch of the River
Niger after the natives were unwise enough to murder the clerk in charge of a
Company factory.

I've heard of the East India Company, but the Niger Company is a new one for
me....any information on the ships involved?

Regards,
Tony, Fishguard
