Steel screw steamer. (Whale Catcher)
Completed May 1951 , as Yard No 1222 , by Smith's Dock Co., Ltd., South
Bank, Middlesborough.
441GRT.
148.5ft L, 27.6ft b, 15.7ft D.
Fitted with triple expansion steam engine and two WT boilers operating at
225lbs/sqin pressure supplied by the shipbuilders.
M/c aft . Fitted for oil fuel.
Strengthened for ice forward . Part elec welded
One deck.
Fitted with Gy Compass, Radar, DF. Wireless.
Owners : Sevilla Whaling Co Ltd. ( Chr Salvesen& Co., managers) 29 Bernard
Street, Leith.
Port of Reg. Leith.
1956. 12th December. Wrecked on Deception Island , South Shetlands.
At the time of her loss it was stated she was "avoiding the attentions of
the Argetine Navy , ran aground and foundered "
