I remain confused and a little sceptical. I cannot find any information to
support the theory that the Duchess of Bedford and her crew sank a
submarine, be it German, Vichi French, Italian, Japanese or a home goal
against an Allied submarine. I cannot even get to grips with a gun duel
between this vessel and an unidentified submarine. So why was the Master,
Captain Busk-Wood, awarded an O.B.E? The list seems to have gone quiet on
this subject but hopefully someone can come up with an answer that appears
logical. This is a plea as until someone does provide an answer I am finding
it hard to sleep at night for thinking about the question..

Regards

Dave Mallinson
