Hi Bob,
Received a letter from Andrew Fisher today that offered some helpful
suggestions and recommended that I hire a professional to look at his
archives which are basically ecclesiatical, military, diplomatic and
political. So I guess this means I'm not invited for tea.
He seemed to think that most of my questions might be addressed by HMC
report of 1897 which has reference to "laird Makcallis lands" and that it
should be at the local library (Ewart Library?)
I have sent several messages to Rob, but haven't had a reply. I made
contact with him earlier on James Mccall who was a blacksmith in Penpont Area
where his ancestor was also a blacksmith.
So I guess I shouldn't plan on finding additional info at Drumlanrig. If
I can't get by Edinburgh , I understand that shortly we may be able to access
most records electronically for a price.
