Hi Tom,
I had a chance to use the Roots 97 you sent to James McCall and to read
the paper on "What's in a Name".
Sandy Pittendreigh recently issued photos on his website in Dumfries, of
Monuments at Glencairn Cemetery. This has presented some questions about
Lords of Caitloch ( McCall in Roots 97) and Lords of Craigdarroch (Ferguson
in Roots 97). It appears from photo that from 1635, they were both McCalls.
Do you have any info about this? I believe they came from John of Ulzieside,
from messages from his kin.
Also trying to get from John McAla in 1761 in Ayr to Edgar M'Kawele, Earl
in Ayrshire, in 1124. This would be an interesting connection?
If you happen to be in Dumfries some nice day, you might visit Kirkmahoe
and Carnsalloch. George Black seems to say that a Robert M'Kawele lived there
in 1370 and might have been buried at the local cemetery.

Ron McCall
