Lots of new Mccall info yesterday. DNA tests connect Sir John, Thomas of
Highlands and John in Lowlands, but additional info is promised on Friday. Mark
has sent in his DNA kit for more Sir John data and still waiting for kits from
Sam and Eleanor and Sam and Else. Janet is still recruiting for POW James
MyCall and Saint McCall. Hopefully Rosie, Chris and JKH will come thru with our
overseas cousins. Surprised that no MacCaulay's have been tested? Sir John has
about 926 Irish cousins including MacDonalds,McDaniels,MacGuires and McCains.
Paige gave me enough McCall info yesterday to keep me busy for a while. A
Battle report from Col William H.H. McCall tells of battle at Fort Stedman.
If you look up this battle, you find Col McCall's victory caused the Fall of
Richmond in 1865.
Capt William McCall fought Indians around Bedford County Va. in May 1776.
Col McCall of the NC Line was fighting at Guilford Court House, after Col
James McCall died of smallpox.(There was a Capt William McCall of Pa Militia from
Harrisburg?)
Lots of War between the States ,McCalls from NC including KA McCall of the
63rd,JC McCall of the 37th,CN McCall,RW McCall,Josiah F. McCall and DH McCall
of the 35th, Jas. McCall,Alex McCall of the 34th, JA McCall of the 11th ,
JM,JA and Wm McCall Co C Cav of 1st NC. More later.
