I have been reading with interest the various messages for McDonald. I have a Daniel McDonald/McDaniel that I have been working on for a few years. I still can't find parents for him. He was born in Ohio 1818 and married Ann Bonham of Penn. They had a son Thomas Merritt McDonald who married Sarah Ellen Wheeler. Any help I can get from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I also have quite a bit of information on the rest of the McDonalds on this line.

Since my Mc line went south, I haven't done any research in the north. But,
our 37 marker match Jeffrey, believes his line went from N.C. to Ky., Ind.
and then Mo. He believes his first was a John McDonald.I was told by my
uncle that we came from Skye, but no proof. We are descended from Sommerled,
The royal line.Info from Jamie. They are re-testing our line as they missed
something, and I am still waiting for that info. Sincerely, Ruth M. Scruggs

Ruth,

I was told by Mark McDonald (who explained my results to me) that my first
12 markers were a "classic Colla descent. He went on to say that my
remaining markers diverged substantially from anyone else in the study. I
was told by a gentleman that matched my first 12 markers that my family was
from the Isle of Skye.

My brick wall is William S. McDonald b.5/14/1794 in Maryland d. 1/27/1863 in
Van Buren County Iowa. William married Mary (Bettle) McDonald
on
April 13th 1826 in New Richmond, Ohio. They had 5 children: Everard B.
whose last known whereabouts was Mexico City (Whether that is

Missouri or Mexico we don't know)
Caroline L., Elizabeth C., William A. (my direct line) and Rowland.

We don't know William S. parents names or where in Maryland he was born.

Kelly McDonald
Zearing, Iowa
