I do not think I have that name. I may have talked with you before, but not
sure. I know that the ancestor who came to Kansas was James Montgomery and
his wife Susannah Naff. His parents were George Montgomery and Martha Jane
Hopkins. Martha's father was George Hopkins. The Montgomery's and the Naffs
were all members of the Old German Baptist Church. Commonly know as Dunkers
or Dunkerds. Think that the Naff family originally came from Switzerland and
were part of the Anabaptist movement, and an ancestor supposedly fought in
what would I guess, be called the reformation movement.
The family supposedly moved from Virginia to get away from the tight close
knit community as James felt that too much intermarriage was going on. I
think that they might have first moved to Indiana, but apparently were only
there a short time before moving to Kansas. Some to Eastern Kansas and some
to Western. My family moved to Western Kansas and then came to Eastern
Kansas.
Have a good day?
Nadine
