Hi everyone, the blue people in Perry co. KY have an ensyme missing and
that makes them the color of an oxford shirt. When they take a pill to add
this ensyme, then they look normal. It did not affect their health. The
names associated with this condition was Smith and Fugate. It takes 2
recessive genes to cause the condition, from what little I have read about
it. I have a lot of people from Perry Co KY so when I had my children
(oldest is 29), I just knew what all a doctor would do to a blue looking
baby, so I tried to find out everything I could about this. There was
precious little to find, only an article written by a doctor in Cincinnati,
Ohio. They lived on Troublesome Creek in Perry Co. KY. I never did tie
into the lines in my searching, I did see someone with this condition and
he truly was the color of an oxford shirt. Blue.
