Actually that was the Creek. There is a children's book written about it
called The Long March. It is beautifully illustrated by a Creek gentleman
and written by...I think her name is Marie Louise Fitzpatrick.

The Creek and Irish have set up a foundation to help children...I seem to
remember that it is a scholarship foundation but the book talks about it.

I donated it to my son's school after reading it to the class...I think
they threw it in the trash. But then the Principal made cracks about
moccasins to me also...sigh

We home school now.

Ingrid,

You are quite right in your assessment. The Indians and the Scots/Irish
found kindred spirits in each other. Their cultures were set up in
basically the same structure.

Did you know .******vbbbbbbbbbbc (sorry. Cat help.)

Did you know that during the Potato Famine when the Cherokee found out
about the starving Irish, the tribes got together and collected about
$350 dollars when they didn't have anything themselves, and sent the
money to Ireland? They were honoring their tribal relatives by marriage
in their time of need, though they themselves were just as needy. This
act of selflessness was honored and remembered a few years ago in a walk
of hundreds of NA and Irish descent.
