Hey guys, how about some of those directions they give you in the hills?
While down in my hubby's birthplace we asked a man how to find hubby's
cousin's house. Of course everyone knows everyone and where they
live."well,ya go up over that thar ridge and keep a going till you pass the
crick, then turn rat thar tward the old oak tree and hit is over thar whar
Tweedy Holler used to be. Rat there by the red tabaccy barn.
Oh,gosh I love it. The funny thing is after I am there an "air" or two,I am
talking just like them. In fact people have asked my husband if I was from
Ky. I have the accent, not him. Get me on the phone to my in-laws and just
like magic, my accent just naturally changes. Now, when I want to, I can do
a pretty good imitation of just about any accent, but that southern one, I
just do it without realizing it, gosh you would have thought that I was the
original southern belle when we went to Georgia and Alabama. I really do wish
that I could keep it, but as soon as I get away from it, it goes away until I
talk to a southerner again. I do have a real Hoosier twang, but not the
really, really southern that I change to. I think that it is a gorgeous
accent and a really warm, soft sound.
