Nancy, I am very troubled. I went to the Mayo site on genforum. I had been
there many months ago to ask about my Mayo/Valentine links. I got jumped on
like "ugly on a monkey". I was humiliated,intemadated and made to feel like
an illiterate idiot, just because I mentioned the Melungeon ties. I had not
gone back, but tonight I decided that I was going to try again to get Mayo
info. Things had not changed. What I pulled up was a lambasting of you by
Jack and Lisa. Well, it really hurt me, so for your sake and mine, as well
as other researchers, who are willing to take what ever they get as ancestors
and accept there roots as whatever they may have been, I quickly fired off a
reply. I wrote it to you and to any others who want to read it. I suppose
you will get notice of it. I really do hope that it will bring others to the
Melungeon website, I did invite them. We may get some negative folks and then
again we may get some who are only trying to find their Mayo roots, whatever
they are. So, would everyone out there please remain calm, if we get some
baddies,and everyone please, lets not have any more disputes as we did last
week. I bragged this list to the hilt and told them just how kind, caring
and interesting the site is, and I would sure not want to contribute to their
negatives about the MElungeon. I invited the baddies so that they could be
educated. I told them to find out the physical traits of the
Melungeon,etc.before they refused to accept that they were not one of the
Melungeon. Is this OK with everyone?
Now Nancy, I did find several postings on that forum about the Mayo's in
Barbados. I seem to have found some where that one of the Mayo's who came to
Va. helped to map out Richmond(or some other big southern town) and also the
boundary between to Southern states. Anyway he went to Barbados and married
, came to the U.S.I cannot recall if he m. there before he did all this, or
if he did all this, went to Barbados and retuned here. Do you know anything,
I can't find it in my files, but I know I saw it. It was one of the direct
lines of ours. I was wondering who the wife was and if she were Barbados or
Englsih. Did I ever give you my Mayo line? It includes yours
Valentine/Mayo. How do we fit in with the Melungeon,I have never got that
straight, unless it was from the old grandmother from Barbados?

I found A CONNECTION TO THE PRESIDENTS BUSH, linking the Mayo's to the
Bushes. Can you link this to our Mayo's? Also, I think that I may have a
double link as my Mayo and Walker family tied into one another. My g grandma
was Elzina Walker, the daughter of Prudence MAYO Walker, her father was
George and Permilla Mayo. Can you help? I know that the Bushes are said to
be Melungeon,even though I really got laughed at for saying this on the other
site. But forget I said that remember, WE ARE GOING TO BE NICE AND POLITE,
to our guests, remember.? I would really think that it would be good to look
into this Mayo line. It is all laid out on this page that I gave you, but I
don't know how to tie it into ours, but as I got my Valentine
Mayo/Hardy/Council line off of this very webpage,his line must be ours,am I
right?
Remember guys, be on our good behavior, we must not show our
Indian,Scotch,Irish,etc.tempers.
