Hello Donalyn - It is that way on most surname and county lists. You won't
find the term Melungeon anywhere-or FPC. Check the Mullins, Belcher,
Stewart, or Berry lists to name a few that Kennedy labeled as Melungeon. I
am curious as to why Kennedy created such a large list of Melungeon surnames
when it really boils down to a handful of lines in 8 counties in Va,Tn, and
Ky. Perhaps Kennedy did not feel the term Melungeon was to be used
exclusively for that remote little area. Perhaps this is why those people
from those 8 counties choose to question Kennedy's credentials often. So
