Gee, I had both, but didn't know one was called bread and butter pudding --
mom would serve that on rainy nights. Always associate it with rain...the
one I call bread pudding is a custard pudding with stale bread included --
all baked together until firm. I use four eggs, milk, cinamon, 1/4 cup each
of packed brown sugar (have a funny story about packed brown sugar) and
regular white sugar....a little clove and nutmeg, vanilla and about 6-8
pieces of bread torn up and mixed in. Bake it forever until set and
eat....yum! But I wouldn't call it a cakey type pudding...more of a custard
with bread in it. How do you make yours?
