Billie,
Take this from a person that has been there and done that. I know that
mtDNA showed that my G-G-grandmother was from the house of Helena. (Northern
European)The same with my Grandmother. It goes back more than 15,000 years.
I also know she was listed in the census as "FPC". I also know that if my
Great-Great-Grandfather was full blooded Chinese, it would not show up on
my grandmothers side or anywhere along the line.
I also know that my Collins and my Gibsons were among some of the first
identified as Melungeon.
I hope you can see that DNA has not proven anything other than
originally my grandmother's ancestors on my father's side were Northern
European. With what genes they were mixed with is anybody's guess.
