Thanks, Dennis. I wasn't speaking about linking to my book. I have never
intended to be comical about Melungeons and would just as soon never mention
"that website" if that is what it takes to get listers to recognize all
sides. Seems to me there are only two or three viewpoints and maybe
representing one from each might seem more general or fair.
I am particularly concerned because the "Our Melungeons" site has many old
documents important to anyone interested in Melungeon research. They also
have articles that represent a side of the issue that doesn't seem to be
represented in the taglines or intro. They seem to be neglected, apparently,
because of a mistaken belief that I have some connection to that site. I am
not affiliated in any way with the "Our Melungeons" website and have no
personal or business interest there so I don't see why that should create
any bias folks may have against me toward the "Our Melungeons" website.
It is, of course your list and you make the decisions. I know you and Judy
have a hard job managing this list and are doing a never-racking job.
Now, how do you define excessive length? <G> <Just kidding.>
Best wishes,

The number of taglines is limited; some have been allocated to
administrative reminders pertaining to the list while others point the way
to web resources I believe to be of general interest. It is not the purpose
of the taglines to represent any "side" so far as that is possible.
Similarly, the introductory message is intentionally broad and fuzzy so as
to make as many people as possible feel comfortable here -- to accommodate
all "sides" as well as people who have no "side."
I will point out that everyone is free to add their personal taglines, even
commercial ones, so long as they are not of excessive length and do not
violate the usual posting standards.

The goal is to provide a forum in which to discuss Melungeons and related
groups, subjects and issues in a spirit of amity and, hopefully, community.
