Pat, Now this is the best idea I have heard on this subject so far. There are
still grown ups in this country who are illiterate but whose word may be
taken. I had an experience with this just this morning. I called my parents
to talk about the shuttle and the town opinions of the shuttle, and we got to
talking about the 1930s census. Both my parents were 6 years old when that
was done. Now Daddy has always said he came from Oklahoma, and all I have
ever gotten documented was they lived in Butler, Bates Missouri and then
moved to Lamar, Colorado. I did not know they bounced around and the kids
were born 2 in Lamar, Colorado, one in Missouri, one in Dodge City, Kansas,
and one in Oklahoma City. Which would explain or lead some credence to the
words of my new found second cousin Qui Li, who was raised native, that the
Isons were in fact NA, Osage, as were the Overstreets and Rogers. Cherokee
and Choctaw.
Sounds like my Grandma Juanita Ison was traveling a lot and having
babies. Her husband, Duane Pritchard was the son of an Irish Immigrant who
also landed in Missouri, most likely as pioneers. I have never seen a photo
graph of my Grandma as a young girl. I would love to know what she looked
like. I have photos of Grandpa. His mother came from an old American family,
the Patchins so was most likely mixed a bit her self on the way down the
genealogical hwy. She would have been about my age, 50 when I was born and
met her. I do however have motion pictures of her and her sisters and
brothers and spouses, her parents, Lucy Padley, and Schuyler Ison, and his
father old Jasper Ison. Jasper Ison would be my great great great
grandfather. I have movies of them fishing, and hanging out in the corn
fields. The films were shot in the early 1940s.
