I don't recall Burnett saying who in Cocke County was Melungeon or when
these people arrived there that he believed were Melungeons. He didn't give
enough information to decide much of anything. Burnett's writing is
anecdotal evidence and should be used as such.

The illogic of saying something else may have happened that is not
specifically refuted or mentioned falls under the Board for Certifications
paragraph that saying something else COULD have happened is not sufficient
to discredit logically collected and analyzed facts. Burnett didn't say they
were NOT in China either so based on the logic I've seen used regarding
Burnett, I guess we should assume Melungeons may have originated in China or
maybe even Antarctica or the moon.
