To me, and I suspect to most people here, a broader definition of Melungeon makes more sense than a narrow one, but it is a matter of definition. It is nothing about which to get so emotional; it is nothing about which to try to exclude others; and it is certainly nothing about which to be casting aspersions upon the character of others. But if it pleases you to call me Melungeon-related or a Ramp or whatever, John T/Frank, feel free.

Howdy Dennis you ask me for my Melungeon connection and I told you, now I ask for yours and you give me some broad theory, based on what you and some other people have imagined. This present 1990's Melungeon movement is not based on history or historical records it a fantasy world. Just forget about who my ancestors were, please answer these question.
1- Was the Melungeons free person of color?
2- I they were not free colored, why do you think they were Melungeons.?
3- who is your Melungeon forefather?
4-Was this person know in the community where he lived as a Melungeon by his neighbors?
4-In what record determines your forefather free colored ?
To me this is all about the few historical records available and documented family research and opinion are just that, opinions. The list Melungeon list moderator should be willing to answer the above questions. You friend in research, Frank
