I am sorry that Tim's motivation in posting was questioned as it was. Tim is
a serious Melungeon researcher whose presence on the list I greatly value,
just as I value the presence of the other serious and published researchers.
I have asked him to accept my apologies and return to the list. I know Judy
had the best of intentions and was trying to make sure another tense
situation did not arise on the list. As I said earlier, in calmer
circumstances I'm sure no one would have thought anything of Tim's post.

As moderator, I would like to add that Tim is quite right in saying that
original documents should be quoted verbatim and not sanitized because some
of the words used are now considered offensive. No one should hesitate to
quote primary documents word for word, which I fear some may be an
unintended side-effect of the reaction to Tim's post.
