Not sure who you were responding to, but I do recognise that those who were
called melungeon were tri-racial...What other race would you attribute to
them besides red, black and white? What other races were in relatively large
numbers in Colonial VA?
Were there boatloads of Pakistanis and people from India taken to VA and
sold? That was the question...
Also, what race (es) would those of India and Pakistan fall under...The
aboriginals or later after mixing?
B.

triracials view, and also if part of the melungeon ancestry included people
like the english, Scots-Irish, German, then the answer would be yes,
regarding melungeons(or at least ancestors of melungeons) sent here as
slaves.Europeans were brought over during the early colonial period as
slaves(the nice word is indentured servant).I say slaves because large
numbers never lived long enough to enjoy freedom, they were treated as less
than human(beatings, killings, rapings), and numbers of them never received
promised allotments after their indenturement was over.

and also as whites in Europe caught on to the real conditions in the new
world. One of the reasons why it ever enjoyed popularity over african
slavery, was africans slaves were expensive, and there was an overpopulation
of poor people in Europe. The rich saw this as a way to take care of both
problems at once.
