Excuse me for butting in with a question but... Frank,
did your great grandpa tell you what the white
neighbors meant when they called them Melungeon? Could
it have been as much a mystery to your family then as
it is to us today? Did he say or even hint it was due
to color or nationality? Since I'm not a Melungeon
descendant it is great to hear from someone who is.
